The X model completely redesigned their stripe, again. In the 1974 model the X stripe once again swooped around the passenger window but now, it also included the four indents in the sail. The stripe across the rear of the car was enlarged, and came close to touching the sail as well. This made the Gremlin appear to be longer.
Was it the best year-model?
The big news of 1974 for the Gremlin was the new Rallye-X model. This model once again took a page from its older brother the Hornet, and incorporated a Tachometer in a three gauge panel, along with an oil pressure gauge, and an ammeter gauge. These were all merged into a blacked out instrument panel.
The Rallye-X also had a front sway bar, once again to accommodate the V-8, and the fact that car enthusiasts were making small modifications on the stock Gremlin, and turning it into a racer.
"The Economy Experts"
Another commercial from AMC to hit the air. This time it promoted the very dealer you would be working with. AMC wanted you to know that dealers everywhere were in the business of getting you an economical deal -the AMC way.
