Few changes took place in the Gremlin in 1975. With the notable exception of the addition of two things, electronic ignition and a catalytic converter.
Was it the best year-model?
Generally a desirable addition, the electronic ignition on the Gremlin was not the best quality. AMC used a less than stellar unit that caused them more trouble than they were worth. It added yet another black mark to the overall score card of the Gremlin.
Despite its obvious popularity, the Gremlin has always had loud naysayers. The catalytic converter has always had strong pros and cons. On one hand it can boost mileage and performance, and on the other it can go out at a moment's notice, leaving a car and its driver stranded. The only good thing that I can say about a catalytic converter is that, it gives off a distinct smell just before it leaves you hanging.
The "Art Car"
This is what the owner calls an 'art car'. Like most owners, he turned it into his own piece of history.
